“And They’re Off...”The Chamber held it’s Annual Dinner Saturday, February 25th at the Red Fern. This years theme was “A Night at the Races: A Chamber Derby”. We had horse races, a silent auction, and even a hat parade with awards given to Most Ornate, Largest, and Most Whimsical hat.
Board Member Mark Jacob gave a “Looking Back” presentation about the Chambers history and Mark Rupprecht, our current president, gave a speech about the positive direction the Chamber is moving in.
In the past the Chamber gave out “Business of the Year Awards” but this year we decided to shake things up a bit. We awarded two local businesses and one organization for their achievements. The Business Achievement Award was presented to The Abbot Furnace Company for their creation of their Biomass Systems. We presented the Apollo Theater with the Community Achievement award for breathing new life into our downtown through the renovation of the theater. Letters From Home was given our Community Spirit for the dedication to our servicemen over the past 9 years.
Hat Winners: Most Ornate – Leah Whiteman ; Most Whimsical – Mary Dahl; Largest – Nikki Samick
