California Businessman Donates Downtown Building; Groups Will Renovate and Relocate

A luncheon was held on Thursday, October 4th at Gunners to announce the recent acquisition by the Marienstadt Corporation of the former "Choice store" in downtown St. Marys.

Jules Bender, a businessman from Santa Barbara, California, had the property listed with local realtor Kevin Berry of Premier Realty. When he was unable to sell the property at the desired price, he inquired about the
possibility of donating the building to a local non-profit organization.

Kevin referred him to Sally Wilson, Executive Director of the St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce and Marienstadt Corporation. The Marienstadt Corporation, the downtown revitalization group, completed the necessary paperwork, and the transaction became official on September 28th.

The building, located at 53 S. St. Marys Street, upon renovation, will provide permanent office space for the Marienstadt Corporation, St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce and the St. Marys Area Economic Development Corporation.

A tour of the building was given after the luncheon.
